I quite literally exploded out of the car and sucked in a huge breath. If I had had to be stuck in that tiny car much longer I may have lost my mind. My pillow had already suffered enough from my long nails and heat damage. But at least we were finally here!

“Damn, who lit a fire under your butt?” Marie giggled as she scooted out behind me.

Ok, so my aunt does drive an SUV. But smaller-then-my-wingspan, vulnerable vehicle driving through the middle of nowhere? Not my idea of fun.

“Not my fault your butt was crushing me,” I replied to my friend.

“Oh would you two stop it and get in here for a picture!” My aunt play-scolded us. We ran to my cousin Nicole and smiled, doing bunny ears behind each other’s backs.

Suddenly (for the people with average senses) Trevor burst through the middle of our clump, scooping up Nicole in twirling a shrieking mess, then finally falling on the grass in front of the condos with her still in his arms. Aww the beauty of a long distance relationship.

Another beautiful thing about my killer senses: when Trevor’s older brother Jamie came up behind me, one strategic step to the right sent him face first onto the grass.

His “Boo-woaahhh!!” was music to my ears, lemme tell ya.

“How’s the weather down there?” I asked with a big fake smile.

“Hey Alli.” He replied. He offered his hand for help up and I flipped my hair before walking over to the rest of the group.

Oh no, don’t you think this is going to be a love story. I already covered that last book, remember, didn’t go well? Yup. No more mutant-human relationships for me!

Plus, Jamie is a jerk. A hot, football playing, first-kiss-a-licious jerk—but definitely a jerk.

Oh, this was going to be an interesting weekend...
